Strategy and M&A Manager

The position, which is located in Lysaker Norway, will lead Strategy and M&A projects across the group, providing quality support to Top Executive Team and all Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA business units.

Job description

The Strategy, M&A and Market Insight team is searching for a proactive and independent Strategy and M&A Manager to join our team. The team has Global responsibilities within strategy development, mergers & acquisitions, investments, market insight and analysis. The team is characterized by a dynamic atmosphere, where existing team members have professional experience from reputable management consulting firms, investment banks or industry.

This is a global role reporting to the VP Strategy, M&A and Market Insight. The Strategy and M&A Manager has extensive contact with all group business units, senior management and external parties and significant exposure towards the Top Executive Team. Some traveling must be expected.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and lead M&A and investment processes. This includes business case development, valuation, due diligence, negotiations, agreements and deal closing
  • Support business units with business development competence, financial skills and project management capabilities for major investments, M&A, and divestures
  • Project management and work-stream support for Long Term Strategy process and strategy review/ follow-up
  • Support Business units with detailing of long term strategy, e.g. regional/ country strategies, product strategies, segment strategies etc.
  • Support the group Transformation Office and all group companies with project management capacity and competence for key strategic and improvement projects within all functional areas
  • Contribute to supporting leadership (e.g. CEO) with presentations, analysis and information gathering on an ad-hoc basis

Job requirements

Qualifications; skills and competencies

  • Higher education, preferably a degree in business administration, finance or similar
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience from Investment banking, Corporate Finance, Management Consulting or other relevant experience from the industry
  • Experience with conducting mergers, acquisitions and major investments and/ or experience from leading strategic projects on various levels of an organization
  • Highly developed project management skills and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, as well as ability to lead and participate in teams and projects
  • Very good communication skills; able to communicate complex issues in a clear and understandable way to – and cooperate with all different levels of the organization
  • Cross cultural understanding; ability to function in a cross-cultural environment and be able to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent understanding of financial modelling and analysis
  • Fluent in written and oral English
