For a newly established position in our Marine Operations team we are now seeking a Machinery Engineer

We are looking for a Machinery Engineer to strengthen our Marine Operations Management team at Lysaker office in Norway. This team of currently six is responsible for the technical management, operational and technical standards and performance of a fleet of 80 percent and roro vessels trading globally.

The machinery engineer will be discipline lead in projects related to the current fleet, as well as in future newbuilding projects. We are presently building up the digital capabilities of the fleet, and this role will drive the development of digital models and methods to support improvements in energy efficiency, performance and maintenance principles across the fleet.

Moving into a future of stricter regulations and considerably lower environmental footprint, an important part of this role is to explore and understand viable and sustainable energy systems that may be adopted in vessels of the future, as well as pursuing near-term opportunities for adoption in the existing fleet.

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Lead projects and studies within own area of expertise
  • Support ship managers in root cause analyses and trouble-shooting on machinery issues
  • Drive machinery performance across the fleet, best practice sharing
  • Discipline lead in ongoing projects
  • Monitor technology and vendor interface
  • Assess of investment cases and upgrades

Job Requirements

  • MSc Degree in machinery/mechanical engineering, alternatively BSc Degree with some years of relevant experience
  • 5-10 years relevant professional experience from the maritime industry
  • Excellent understanding of energy- and machinery systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
  • IT literacy

The ideal candidate has 5-10 years relevant working experience with ship manager, ship owner, engine manufacturer or similar. Interest and ability to work in a multi-cultural working environment will be a prerequisite.

This role reports to the SVP of Marine Operations and will drive her/his own projects, as well as continuously supporting the team and the fleet within area of expertise.
