Managing Director

As the Managing Director for The Business for Peace Foundation you will be responsible for leading and developing the organization and their mission as well as hosting The annual Business for Peace Award and The Business for Peace Summit.

Main deliverables:

  • Increase the awareness of the Business for Peace award through relevant international channels in both business and society
  • Represent Business for Peace on external events such as conferences, debates and public arenas
  • Proactively work to make the term businessworthy a commonly accepted term for businesses and organizations across the world
  • Further develop the award processes and the Summit
  • Closely work with partners to strengthen the alliance, and make them Business for Peace “ambassadors”
  • Manage and motivate a small staff and a large number of volunteers
  • Develop plans for future expansion and strengthening of the funding base

Main relationships: The role will report to the Board of Directors

Travelling: Some travel is required

Domicile: Oslo

The Person

Education: University degree is required

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience from an international organization or business

Personal qualifications:

  • A unifying leader able to promote the Business for Peace Award towards; public authorities, the business community and the political landscape
  • Someone who can identify him/herself with “the higher purpose of business”
  • Strong communication skills. An effective consensus-builder, with proven success in leading organizations and managing excellent external relations
  • Able to decide and implement strategies in an inspiring and inclusive way
  • Create positive team spirit of the organization's employees and good relations to business associates and the board
  • Genuine interest in the public debate of matters in business and society
  • Entrepreneurial orientation (risk-taking, innovative and pro-active)
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
