Director, Renewable Investments and Business Development

As part of Hydro's new strategic direction to diversify and explore new green growth, Hydro's Energy business area has established the business unit “Renewable Growth” to invest in renewable projects and develop energy solutions, leveraging Hydro's existing power demand and industrial footprint. The unit will explore the development of renewable power projects outside Hydro’s existing hydropower portfolio. Primary focus will be on wind and solar power projects in the Nordic region and Brazil, and opportunities for battery energy storage systems.

We are now hiring a Director of Renewable Investments and Business Development to join the adventure and help us realize our renewable growth ambition!

Area of responsibility
In this role, main responsibilities will include:

• Screen renewable energy projects 
• Select targets for investments
• Coordinate project development
• Lead project commercial and financial completion  
• Identify opportunities for growth in related areas

Specific tasks and deliveries will include:

• Project management
• Due diligence
• Financial modeling
• Negotiation of acquisition, commercial framework, financing
• Coordination of internal and external resources, e.g. legal, regulatory, tax, finance, sustainability, projects, technology

Qualifications

• University degree 
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant international experience including business and project development in renewables, preferably in the solar sector
• Experience within business/technology development, production and use-phase of batteries would be advantageous 
• Ability to manage complex processes in different countries/languages, and to coordinate many different specialties
• Entrepreneurial spirit and "go get it" attitude
• Value-driven, with high focus on collaboration
• Uncompromising integrity
