Insurance and Risk/Compliance advisor in Industriforsikring

Corporate Center in Hydro is mainly located at Vækerø and has around 260 employees within the areas of Finance, People & Safety, Legal and Compliance, Communication & Public Affairs and Corporate Development.

Industriforsikring is Norsk Hydro’s insurance company (captive). Industriforsikring's vision is to contribute to competitive and optimized insurance solutions for Hydro globally, both for property/machinery, personnel and for other relevant existing or new areas. Further, Industriforsikring contributes to loss prevention work in the business areas through insurance surveys. 

Based in Oslo, Norway, the captive is regulated by Norwegian law and supervised by the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority. The Managing Director of Industriforsikring reports to  Industriforsikring’s Board of Directors. Administratively Industriforsikring is closely tied to Hydro’s Insurance Department. Captive responsibility involves three main areas;  insurance, finance/asset management and regulatory/compliance. We are looking for a strong candidate with broad experience within these areas.

Areas of responsibility

You will be involved in a wide range of tasks, such as support and advising the Managing Director in developing the captive’s strategy and risk tolerance, contribute to the captive’s submission process and support the underwriting process for the various lines of business. You will be involved in the policy renewal process for all lines of business and be responsible for insurance premium tax. You will also work with the Norwegian Natural Hazards Pool (Norsk Naturskadepool) as well as some claims handling. Furthermore, you will support the captive with tasks within the financial area, as well in fulfilling regulatory requirements, the risk management process, including ensuring development and maintenance of relevant procedures. 

The position requires support to and cooperation with the Insurance and Risk Managers / Advisors in Hydro Insurance Department. 

Desired Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in the role as Insurance and Risk/Compliance advisor, we believe the right candidate holds the following qualifications:

  • University degree (e.g. Finance, Law or other relevant education)  
  • Proven track record of working with insurance (personal lines, cargo, property, etc.) and/or finance and/or risk management/compliance (regulatory framework/Solvency II)
  • Experience within insurance risk management an advantage
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations an advantage
  • Professional fluency in English and Norwegian is required
  • Ability to drive changes, standardization and improvements

Higher education can be compensated by extensive work experience.

As a person, we believe you are self-going with good communication and cooperation skills and with a structured way of working. You have excellent track record and high personal integrity as well as the ability to build relationships internally and externally. Furthermore, you manage to assess and prioritize your work day, to have many open tasks at the same time and enjoys being hands-on. 

Additional information

You will join an international team of in total 13 people (4 in the captive, 9 in the Hydro Insurance Department) including colleagues in Brazil, the UK and USA. We have broad experience in insurance and risk management and come from administrative, legal, finance and risk engineering backgrounds. The position is in Oslo, Norway, and reports to the Managing Director of Industriforsikring.
