Do you want to work with competition law and play a key legal role in connection with international, complex and large transactions? Are you looking to gain experience that very few employers can offer?

Group Legal is looking for an experienced competition lawyer to the Corporate M&A team. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in exciting M&A projects for one of Norway’s major companies and a global telco, and to help us lift this area to new heights. We believe this is one of the most exciting openings in the market.

You will be joining a highly competent team of 9 lawyers, 5 of which are highly experienced M&A lawyers, while 2 are dedicated competition lawyers. In addition, the team covers Group risk, litigation and financial reporting, global support on IPR law, IDDs and sanctions and Corporate Governance activities for the Telenor ASA, Telenor Executive Management, the Telenor ASA Board and the General Assembly.

This is a role that offers great responsibility and interesting challenges within the area of competition law. You will work closely with our international Business Units, competition authorities, and external law firms as well as economic consultants. The role entails involvement in the entire M&A process from risk management and planning, to advisory and completion. A central part of this role will also involve interaction with the EU Commission and other international competition authorities and normally as part of a larger team. All of Telenor’s transactions worldwide are evaluated and processed by Group Legal, and our team is consequently the “hub” for competition law within Telenor.

If you thrive in a high paced and international work environment, and enjoy the unpredictable, you might be the person we are looking for!

What you will do..

  • Provision of legal support in relation to a large range of matters including:
  • Involvement in large international projects and being responsible for the whole process from competition analysis, preparation, and completion of international merger filings as well as continuous guiding on competition law from signing to closing of transactions
  • Identify legal risks and contribute to mitigating solutions within the area of competition law for Telenor ASA as well as other Group Functions and Business Units
  • Provision of strategic advice and supporting Telenor ASA and Telenor's Business Units in achieving business goals whilst at the same time protecting the interests of Telenor ASA
  • Actively contribute to the Telenor Group global Competition Community in close interaction with our Business Units worldwide
  • Supporting and interacting with the Local Legal Departments in our European and Asian Business Units
  • Selecting, collaborating with and managing external counsel across several jurisdictions

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone that has

  • Master of law or equivalent
  • 5-6 years’ competition law experience as a lawyer
  • Deep understanding of the EU Competition rules, with emphasis on EU merger control legislation and the processes hereto
  • Deep knowledge of corporate and contract law
  • Experience from working in a large, and preferably, a law firm or an international organization
  • Extensive operational transaction expertise within Competition Law, being able to work independently and to take responsibility of processes from the start to completion
  • Experience from working with complex competition analysis, including cases with horizontal overlapping activities as well as complex vertical links between the parties involved
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Our business language is English, but fluency in Norwegian is an advantage

Who are you?

  • You have a good business understanding and can provide practical advice that contributes to getting projects completed in an efficient manner for Telenor
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can make decisions in high-pressure situations, and enjoy working both strategically and operatively
  • Networking comes naturally to you and you enjoy building new relationships within the organization and across cultures
  • You will be working with all our Business Units in Europe and Asia. You therefore enjoy working across borders and with different cultures

We offer

  • A key role in shaping the future Telenor, in an industry undergoing massive change
