Automotive Program Manager

Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

We see an increased focus on reducing carbon footprint of raw materials such as aluminium from end users in general and especially automotive.  Via the low carbon aluminium brands HYDRO CIRCAL (based on recycling) and HYDRO REDUXA (based on renewable energy) Hydro Aluminium is well positioned to benefit from this increased focus, and we are in currently in dialog with several automotive producers on decarbonization of the supply chains.

The Program Manager will manage/coordinate projects with end users to realize joint carbon footprint reduction roadmaps and introduce new alloys.  In this position you will need to work closely with our R&D team, production units and our commercial organization, as well as our downstream value chain and end user. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Initiate and manage projects/programs through our value chain including end users 
• Develop decarbonization roadmaps 
• Increase the use of recycled aluminium 
• Introduce new alloys including organization of verification/qualification/piloting  
• Support our commercial organizations and R&D organization when it comes to end users' needs/trends 
• Participate in strategies developing processes focusing especially on capturing value from the Hydro decarbonization and recycling ambitions 

The position reports to Head of technology in Primary Metal Commercial  

Desired Qualifications

• Technical university degree, but with a keen interest for business development 
• Substantial experience in product development and/or proven ability to launch new products, preferably within the automotive value chain. 
• Experience with aluminium is an advantage. 
• Ability for strategic thinking. 
• Ability to communicate abstract ideas in an effective way across all layers in the organization 
• International experience – fluent in English
