About M&A:

To deliver on the ambitious 2025 Strategy, DNV has established a team of M&A experts. The team has in a matter of a few years established themselves as an internal M&A "Powerhouse". In 2021 DNV made strategic acquisitions within healthcare, cyber security, and renewable energy, and going forward we see vast opportunities for impact across other segments as well.

Group M&A Director Role and responsibilities

DNV Group M&A team is central in all mergers, acquisition, and divestment processes in the global DNV organization. The team is engaged throughout the project’s lifetime, from target scouting to integration. DNV Group M&A team currently consists of six professionals, including two in DNV Venture, all sitting together in modern seafront office facilities in a pleasant campus environment at the DNV headquarter at Høvik. In addition, we are in the process of hiring another Project Manager.

This is a highly influential and critical role in supporting and advising Group and BA’s in reaching their strategic targets. The M&A team provides unique insights and experience into DNV’s industries and global organization. Through working with senior colleagues and transaction teams, you will be able to enhance your industry and transaction expertise while further developing strategic thinking and management skills. The group M&A Director reports to Group CFO.

The M&A pipeline and process involves global stakeholders internally and externally to capture opportunities in respective markets.

Group M&A provides very exciting opportunities – in turn, we are looking for a dedicated professional who is triggered by this.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Provide strategic advice to the Group CEO and Group Management on M&A decisions
  • Maintain an overview of potential and ongoing M&A activities and assign project resources
  • Report on the deal pipeline to Group Management and the Board of Directors
  • Support the team in prioritizing between and within projects, including stakeholder management
  • Develop the M&A competency across DNV, and the business acumen within the M&A team, to improve the ability to work seamlessly
  • Develop the capacity and competency of the team through attracting, hiring, developing and retaining the people needed to grow at speed
  • Maintain and develop the M&A process framework within DNV, including decision management and support
  • Support the strategy and goal-setting process within DNV relating to M&A activities.

Position Qualifications

The successful candidate is a seasoned corporate strategy leader with the following experience:

Competence requirements

  • Deal sourcing - Experience in identifying and approaching potential target companies, and developing investment cases
  • Transaction Management - Experience in managing M&A processes from target assessment, through LOI stage and due diligence process to closing
  • Value creation - Experience from following up on value creation post-deal and understanding important dynamics that determine long-term success
  • International large corporations - Experience from a company with substantial international presence, preferably in digital business models and/or renewable energy
  • Leadership experience with an excellent track record of developing ambitious and highly competent people
  • Master's degree in finance, financial economics, economy, industrial economics, or similar.
