Investment Analyst

Hydro Energy has more than 100 years of experience in renewable energy production. We are one of Norway’s top three largest operators of hydropower production and a large power market player in the Nordics and Brazil. We develop new business opportunities for Hydro within renewable energy, green hydrogen and batteries, and we provide support to wider Hydro on contracts, security of supply and energy framework conditions.

Energy Finance is now looking for an Investment Analyst to join and strengthen the Controlling and Analysis team. Energy Finance is responsible for financial operations, controlling, financial analysis, planning, reporting, risk management and IS/IT within Hydro Energy. In this role you will play a key part by supporting business in making sound decisions related to current activities and new ventures.

Areas of responsibility
We are looking for an Investment Analyst who will take a broad role in our team. You will contribute with in-depth financial analysis providing management with necessary decision-making input both in strategic ownership discussions on Energy level and within project teams developing and maturing business opportunities within the different areas of Energy. In addition you will be involved in projects and decisions with strategic importance from an investment controller perspective, reviewing and making a recommendation on decisions that require approval on Energy level in addition to supporting the investment decision processes towards Hydro Group. This includes investment projects, M&A transactions, and major contracts.

Tasks typically include:

  • Build and develop financial models on owner and project level
  • Conduct financial evaluations and profitability analysis
  • Identify and communicate key findings to management
  • Support in maturing investments according to the capital value process (CVP)
  • Perform reviews of investment proposals working closely with the project teams, making a recommendation to management
  • Participation in ad-hoc projects within the Energy area

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, preferably a degree in business, finance and economics with strong academic results
  • 3-10 years’ work experience is required. Experience from the green energy sector and/or experience from financial roles is a plus 
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills including investment and profitability analysis 
  • Ability to balance a governance role with a support role towards the business units
  • Advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Fluency in written and verbal English and Norwegian is required

Who are you 
To succeed in this position, you must be highly self-driven and able to work independently while collaborating with many stakeholders. In addition, you need to be team oriented with focus on knowledge sharing. You have a systematic and analytical approach, with the ability to execute and deliver results of high quality and integrity. The role requires very strong analytical and modelling skills, and the ability to successfully identify and communicate key messages from these analysis towards different levels of the organization, including top management. 

Additional information
You will report to Head of Controlling and Analysis in Energy Finance. The position is based in Oslo.
