Wellesley Petroleum is an established E&P company, focused on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and recognized as one of the most active and successful explorers and early phase developers in the basin.

Wellesley is focusing on generating new prospects for operated exploration drilling in the coming years as well as maturing existing discoveries towards production. The recent Wellesley-operated Carmen discovery has a particular focus in the company.

With these tasks in mind, Wellesley is seeking highly motivated and capable technical staff to join our team. The available roles are for one development geologist and three exploration geoscientists.

Job Description: Development Geologist

The role will be involved in all the Company’s development projects, but with main responsibility and focus on the operated Carmen project. The successful applicant must be degree qualified and have post-graduate experience with direct development experience on the NCS or wider North Sea.

Good commercial understanding, project management ability and confident presentation skills will all be required. The position offered is a Stavanger-based staff role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a focal point for all development geology matters in the company
  • Represent Wellesley’s interests in the appropriate licence committees
  • Interact with and advise the other subsurface disciplines
  • Assist Business Development efforts in both acquisition and divestment projects
  • Assist the exploration team in estimating recoverable resources from undrilled
  • structures
  • Manage development data in line with the company’s systems

Job Description: Exploration Geoscientist

These roles will be involved in all aspects of our E&P business including prospect generation, licence management, farm-ins and development planning. The successful applicants must be degree qualified and have post-graduate experience including direct industry experience on the NCS or wider North Sea.

Exposure to North Sea development geology in addition to exploration experience will be a strong advantage. Good commercial understanding, project management ability and confident presentation skills will all be required.

Key responsibilities

  • Generate, mature and rank prospects and appraisal opportunities
  • Represent Wellesley’s interests in the appropriate licence committees
  • Assist Business Development efforts in both acquisition and divestment projects
  • Manage subsurface data in line with the company’s systems
